Hello there guys and girls, I'm having an issue about the waiting period for my firearms lisences, my application was received by the RCMP on January 3rd 2012, 45 days went by and I wasn't contacted at all, I called the RCMP to see what the delay was due to and they said there was nothing wrong with my application and I passed both back ground checks also that it is now in the hands of the chief of fireas officer and I should be contacted shortly. It is now April 3rd and neither myself, my wife, or my references have been contacted, is this standard procedure? Note: I have been contacting the RCMP on a biweekly basis and written 2 emails concerning the delay, the 2 emails have not been answered and the phone operator have been vague about the waiting time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and patience.

Bother your Provincial CFO if the RCMP already say it is passed to them for their part. Mine did not take nearly that long. I checked online almost every day as well.

Im having trouble finding the phone number for the CFO in Quebec, all Im able to find is a fax number, could the RCMP patch me through to the CFO?

Call the toll free number and tell them to put you through to a supervisor, I had a POL but could get my guns registered for 2 years and did this. Turned out to me a case of the police putting a red flag on my file, when it should have been on someone else's. Same first and last name different middle name, they just put in on the first one that popped out. No one at the CFO would say anything but it went to the province ( BC) at the time. The funny part was I lived in Fort Nelson the other guy lived in Nelson BC , the incident happened in Whitecourt AB, took all of 30 minutes to straighten it out when I found out.

I will do that first thing tomorrow morning, thanks a bunch guys for all the helpful information :), take care and take it easy.

Welcome to the shooting sports. :D

Just to give you some perspective. It took 4 months from test to RPAL in hand for me. My first restricted purchase took 6 weeks and to top it off my last to NR purchases were sent to the CFO for "random" reviews.f:P:

The most important thing to do is to just focus on the positive.:)

Like all the money you are saving on ammo that you could otherwise be shooting down range by now...:ar15:

Seriously, just do what CanAm says.;)

I contacted my CFO yesterday and my application was put into a priority folder, I was told I'd be contacted that day or today, hopping they will call today if not I'll call again on tuesday, thanks again for the help everyone :)

Update. Well looks like in 10 to 14 days I can officially say I'm a member of the great Canadian firearm community! :) thanks a bunch to everyone for the help and Canam I'll be making my first firearm purchase through you guys:D take care and God speed everyone.
