Firearm plating

Yes. Electro-stripping is just the reverse of electro-plating. Any place that does plating could do it for you, but you would probably feel more comfortable having it done by a gunsmith.

ARMCO - a contributing dealer of this site whose ad can be found above - offers stripping for around $150.

Owchies!! Had my 10/22 reciever stripped and plated in 24kt Gold for less than $100.

But I guess it also depends on the size of the piece being worked on.....

Nah, depends less on the size of the piece than the amount of the work being done.

I could strip and gold plate a 10/22 receiver in gold for less than 5 bucks. Just dip and dip*. Hopefully the finish was what you wanted and there was no grease on the part. Oh, and the plating would be as thin as an angel's fart. But you DO get what you pay for.

The price quotes from most gunsmiths include a provision for re-finishing and a certain amount of warranty.

*Yea and before the sticklers start chiming in it would be 3 dips, but the point is still there.

I guess...I made sure I went to a reputable shop, and he guarantees his work...and the job came out as good as I could expect considering the junky factory reciever he had to work with :D:D

I have a friend who owns a machine shop....I would love for him to build me a new reciever...then get that baby setup!!! It would be way to much of a hassle tho!!
