Can anyone give me some info on a "Firearms Co Alpine". Made in England. 7MM Mag. Looks like Mauser 98 action. British proof marks. Monte Carlo stock, white plastic spacers at pistol grip and butt. 24" barrel. Williams rear sight, ramp front. Hinged floorplate.
Front dovetail sight is broken off.
Thanks in advance for any info.

First saw these in Western Canada in the eralt 1970's. I had one in .243, a heavy rifle for that small a caliber , but there were not many liteweights at that time. Believe these were refurbished Mauser 98 actions with new barrels etc. If I recall I paid $89.00 for mine at the Army and Navy store in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in 1977, just prior to the introduction of the FAC.

It's a typical ( not to say bad) 98 conversion that is probably more than 20 years old. Some of the later rifles uses Santa Barbara actions instead of military 98 converted ones. Like most Mauser rifles it will be dependable and safe with parts readily available.
