Firearms and Hunting in the USA

Gents and gals if there are any here,

My brother just got him self a large acreage of land in Northern CT, he wants me to come down and hunt deer. In a heart beat, but I have no idea what the transportation and possession of a firearm when traversing from the Canadian border through two states (NY and Mass) to get to Connecticut. Anyone have any experience on this?
