Hi, Wondering if you can answer a question for me. I've been involved in firearms for nearly 30 years and I'm interested in doing the Firearms Instructor course (FSESO) and becoming an instructor. I am a former police officer and I'm retiring in a couple of years.

Although I would not be doing this solely for the money, I would need to know what it would pay. Is it just enough to cover my gas money, or a decent part-time job? Sorry if it sounds silly, but I'd need to know first.

Thanks, and much appreciated!

You can make a decent wage, if you are interested, start the process now. Getting in has a lot to do with the geographic area you want to teach in and how many certified Instructors are already there. Get your name on the list so as Instructors retire or move and the CFO fills that spot, your name will move up. Apply every year until you're in. Good luck!

Thanks, Gentlemen.

They aren't taking applications until July, unfortunately. I'll try then. Seems I need to take the 'regular' course and then the instructors course. I first got my FAC back in the 80's before there even was a firearms course! ....and I think it cost me $10.

Looking for a part-time job after retirement!
