fireforming .410 brass

I'm in the dark here .. what is the advantage of what you are doing over simply buying .410 shot shells with what ever size shot you want? What does the brass give you over the standard plastic shell?

I can reload 444 brass for a fraction of the price of new 410 using simple hand tools I made myself.

Well that's an excellent reason, carry on.:)

Through bulk purchasing I've been able to get 3" shells with #6 shot at about $8/box of 25. But I'm sure your reloads are coming in well under that. Do you screen the shot from the ground at a local range, make it, or purchase it? Just curious.

This is bad company in which to make fun of a man's chosen reloading undertaking! I'll LOL here, and here I'll stop.

I buy it at gunshows or Wholesale Sports in Saskatoon has it in stock.
I am trying to imagine the performance you would have to go through to get enough shot to be usable. Backhoe and a sluice box?

Not much of a performance at all, and I was being serious here, not poking fun. We have a few folks that do it at our range. It's as simple as a screen, a shovel and pail. The guys simply shovel a pail full of dirt from hill behind our trap houses where the highest concentration of shot will be, screen it and go. They do a better cleaning when they get home before they reload the shot. They get a good return for a little work and while the shot is odd shaped, mostly oblong, it works great for trap loads .. so they end up putting it all back where they found it !! LoL. Their reason is simple, they don't have a lot of $$. The biggest cost of re-loading shotgun for them is the shot and the cost of shipping it. They reload for several guages, 12, 20, .410
