First 2020 gopher sighting

Yesterday one crossed the road in front of us, a little south of the highway between Zealandia and Tessier.

They've been getting shot and run over down here for a couple weeks already. Just south of Shaunavon on #37 theres a giant gopher parts smear across the highway already.

A woodchuck that survived my efforts last year punched out his hole in the sun earlier this week. Just happened upon that on one of my timber patrols at the farm: odd, considering I was on snowmobile... it's how it goes: sheltered bits of field in full sun soften up quickly while there is knee deep snow elsewhere. Just some more targets of fun to go along with the inevitable beaver that arrive to dam the creek.

A rancher friend of mine texted me last wknd, said he was out shooting them. This was near Maple Creek, so I reckon I better get my new Anschutz dialed in so I can head there the next time I get a similar call.

The farmer that owns the land me and my hunting partner shoot gophers on has been checking in with my friend almost weekly giving us updates and ground conditions. As he wants us out there as soon as it's dry enough. Can't wait, T1X has new glass and I'm stocked up on mini-mags.
