After shooting powder burners for many years I finally bought my first Air Rifle(my budget was $300). A Webley&Scott Patriot .177 with a Dreamweaver rating of 1200fps.
The Patriot is Big and Heavy with a beautiful walnut stock and deep bluing made in Turkey. It came with a Nikko Sterling 4-12X50 AO scope & mounts.
Picked it up with a tin of 500 X-Sport Stoeger pellets for cheap break-in all for $309 +taxes. I plan on shooting with the fibre-optic sights until its broken-in.

Out of the box it shot dead-on at 20ft. The first shot went high but the following 25rnds hit the 2"circle nicely IMO. In my defence I have very little experience with Springers:).....

Went to Gagnon Sports. For $300 I'm more than pleased with the package (includes the Scope/rings & caps).
I adjusted the trigger down to 2.5lbs. It now rivals some of my "real" rifles.

The New Quattro Trigger:
The Quattro Trigger utilizes a 4-lever system (hence Quattro).
Each lever reduces the load acting on the next lever in the system.
By changing contact angles of each component the lever ratios are increased.
An original load of 250lbs is reduced to approximately 2lbs at the trigger.
A variable load is introduced into the system via the Trigger load screw.
This gives the shooter an adjustable trigger load.
The first and second stage adjusting screws vary the length of trigger pull and the amount of first and second stage pressure that is best suited to the shooter.

easyrider604....I'll do my best to get a range report out but you know...once the snow melts it's Riding season:)

After 150rnds the rifle is breaking in nicely! While the cocking takes some effort(~50lbs) it's very smooth and I'm getting used to the "technique".
The trigger is really nice too! I can only imagine what the Diana's and Weihrauch's (your HW97) are like.

I can see why Air Guns can get addictive!........

My first air rifle was a Webley Hawk Mk11 in 1975 for GBP30 in the UK.

Your patriot in 2017 for $300 is a bargain, and I can see that both the metal and timber are far superior in yours. I still have mine, and it gets used occasionally to sort out a pest problem.

I hope you keep yours as along, and that it provides as much joy!

Candocad...I'm planning on keeping the Patriot for a long time and hoping it will last.
I understand the English Webley & Scott air rifles were superior than the Turkish made but I have to say I'm very impressed with my example so far!
The scope is pretty decent too. I hope it can withstand the recoil of this beast when I eventually mount it.....

From your photo, I can confirm that your wood is much better than any English version, they were mainly beech, and the metalwork looks good too. I have kept mine for the kids, more likely grandkids now as my boys are moving up onto centre fire rifles now.

Webley & Scott have a super heritage, and yours is part of that, shoot and enjoy it.

Nice looking rifle!

Air rifles are the gateway drug to the shooting sports for many many of us gunnies! I spent so many hours playing with them as a kid! GREAT memories

Congrats

Thanks Jay. She's a beauty in my eyes. i'm really surprised how ARs have changed over the years.

I never really shot air rifles as a child. I picked up my friends Red Rider a couple times (in the early 70's) but my father took me out shooting with a scoped 22lr rifle.

It's taken me until now for me to own my first air rifle! I guess I'm a late bloomer......
