First AR and a problem

Got my very first AR in the mail just a few minutes ago. Got it from a board sponsor and it's a Norc. Everything looks really sweet, but the safety selector switch just spins round and round. Am I missing something? I split the recivers and looked at it but I know nothing about these trigger groups.

Sounds like you are missing the small detent that "holds" the safety from rotating 360. I have not looked closely at a norc, but usually the detent and spring are held in place by the butt assembly.

take the pistol grip off, the spring and detent will be there. if not call who ever shiped it to you and ask for one.

Is the right side of the selector switch still flush with the reciever body?

Might be missing the spring and tit assembly that holds safety into place up from grip. On phone right now so can't hook you up with schematic. Disassemble and find out if your missing parts - you wanna do this to clean up parts with oil anyway.

You did just buy a Norc correct?

This is correct.
Take the screw out of the pistol grip. There should be a spring retained by the grip, and a detent should be above the spring...contacting the selector switch.

Either spring or detent missing would cause your problem.
