Howdy all, here is my almost completed very first AR build. Had a shipping mix-up so still waiting on my buffer tube assembly and trigger guard!

Here we have my Spikes Tactical Spartan stripped lower, JP enterprises LPK, and Geissele SSA-E trigger, and Magpul MOE foliage green pistol grip

Here we have assorted goodies for the upper: 14.5" Daniel Defense gov't profile barrel w/ midlength gas, Vltor MUR-1a upper receiver w/ forward assist and ejection port, midlength gas tube, AAC NiB full auto BCG, BCM Low pro gas block, BCM Gunfighter MOD 4 charging handle. BCM KMR 10" free float keymod handguard and all the bits that came with it.

Just some engraved dust covers. Was going to put it on the Vltor, but in order to do so you have to take off the forward assist, which I did not feel like doing.

Barrel installed, nut torqued as per BCM instructions. Gas tube and gas block installed (very easy with this barrel nut).

AAC FA BCG

Vltor VC-1 Comp. Came with PEEL washer. First time using them and let me say what a pain in the @$$. Burnt fingers and cut fingers. The layers are very sharp.

Finished upper.

New upper mounted on one of my DD lowers to check for fit and function while i wait for parts to finish new lower.

Mocked up onto the future lower!

FINISHED!

Looking pretty good so far!

There's a trick to removing the stock Vltor ejection port cover without having to remove the forward assist but removing the FA is quicker, especially if your barrel is already mounted to your upper.

If your trigger guard uses a roll pin, make sure you are supporting the opposing side of the receiver. Some folks don't and then realize after when they snap the other side of the receiver clean off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the enhanced trigger guards from various manufacturers (Magpul comes to mind), actually fill the gap between the two sides of the receiver where the pin mounts. Removes the annoying gap that you can feel with the upward part of you middle finger when holding the grip.

Nice add-ons and not as prone to snapping the pin retention hole tabs on the receiver when installing. Just something to think about!

I have a spikes tactical gen 2 trigger guard on the way!

I'm not too keen on trying to get the FA off. I tried to punch the roll pin out but it wasnt budging. I got the C clamp off, took off the handguard but the barrel nut blocks the port cover pin. Dont feel like taking the barrel nut off to change to cover haha.
