I'm looking into buying my first AR and I think I found something that I'm interested in. I was just wondering if this is a good deal/ setup.

I am not sure what you mean by "good setup". You really have to tell people what and how you intend to use the rifle.

x1 ^^

One thing you will learn on here is, its hard for us to just know where you are coming from. Do you plan on using it as a service rifle? Just plinking? etc?

Help us, help you :)

They are spendy but the nicest AR I ever shot was one of those. Like Ferris Bueller said," If you have the means, I highly recommend it."

Sorry I should of been more specific about I plan to use it for. I was planning to get it for plinking, right now at around 5o yards but 100 yard + in the future.

Well I only plan on buying one ar for the foreseeable future so im hoping this models a good choice.

Decent deal, great rifle. You can always hock the BUIS + Sopmod stock for $400 and use something cheaper...not that I would but if you are strapped it's an option.
Cheers

Actually a big reason to why I'm leaning towards this one is because of the sopmod and the freefloat handguard. It was something I planned on putting on the rifle so it saves me money and time having it already on.

The MRP is a whole bunch more then just a free floating rail, the top rail is monolithic meaning it continues throughout the rifle and is a bunch stronger and superior for optics mounting.

Echoing the other posters, if you can afford it, do it!

I've owned and fired the exact rifle in the past, and really enjoyed it. It came from Questar and the only reason I sold it was to buy a Noveske from another CGN'er. I had a Nightforce 2.5-10x24 on my LMT it and it was a good optic for medium range work, but less so for CQB. I've also used 1-4's and they are good too, just not enough magnification for achieving tight groups at range. I think this rifle is a 1" to 2" rifle benched with good ammo. You may achieve some sub 1" groups, but they'll be rare and you'd be using hand loads. I think $2199 is a good price and who knows how long we'll see these brand name quality AR's in NIB in Canada with the tightening of the ITAR noose. Only Questar is bringing in high end AR's right now, with the exception of maybe CRAFM. I think a Stag at Arms East is another good option, if you want to save a few bucks and get a good quality AR. Sabre has a good rep too, but they are never in stock at Wolverine and come in your standard configs. IMHO, LMT makes an excellent quality product. Fit, finish and quality are top notch. I am issued a Colt Canada C8 at work, own and love my Noveskes (Awesome, but pricey), would love to own a KAC (Never handled one, but will one day), but think that LMT is the best quality bang for your Canadian buck in the current Canadian AR market. Resale on a MRP is also good.

Yes, it's a good deal IIRC. You can also order the 10 rnd LAR-15 magazines from Questar and they'll work in that rifle.

From the little experience I have with the LAR-15 mags, you will need to deburr them with some scotch-brite, a flat file and WD40. If not, the rounds can catch on the undressed sheet metal and cause feeding issued. You could also try a deburring tool, but I don't think it would work so well on something like this.

I recently tried Magpul PMAGs, and wow those are nice!

Thanks for the input everyone, I'll be buying it tomorrow . One last question for anyone whos bought an ar from Questar or any other site, how long does the entire process from checkout to being shipped out take?
