on the May long weekend Deano was nice enough to invite me bear hunting up near grand beach. after 3 days, sitting on baits and wandering miles of logging roads had only resulted in blistered feet. we where getting ready to head back, and took one last swing down the roads.came around a corner and there was a blackie foraging on the road side. after a brief discussion on who would take the shot, my graciuos host insisted i did, as it was my first bear hunt. it started to run just as i shouldered the .303 and all those rounds of trapshooting paid off. running headshot, paced it off at 70 yards. when i walked up to it it was a lot smaller on the ground then it looked when it was alive. if i had known just how small it was wouldn't have taken the shot, but a little too late for that.but it was easy to clean and very little fat. a different taste for sure, i like it, but don't think i'd want to eat it all the time. will be back out next year, found some great sites for baits, will mark them with a GPS when i go out for grouse this fall. thanks dean for a memorable may long!

Maybe the bear looks a bit small cause you look a bit big  :D J/K. Or maybe I should say which one is the bear ;) ;)

Congrats on your first bear :D

Nice one Kevin! Are you taking it to a butcher or cutting it up yourself? How do you like your bear?;) Nice pic , by the way! :)

Nice job on the runnin shot Kev... congrats on your first bear!
And don't be over cooking them chops... bear meat really benefits from a white cream sauce and slow cooking.
