I am considering getting the Norinco CQ 14.5" as my first black rifle. I have experience with the C8 and C7 and just want to use the Norinco for target practice. Please let me know if it is the best choice for the price.

No offense, but it always boggles my mind when I see someone who has been here for years and then finally posts a question like this.

Where is that confused smiley

Your good to go with the Norinco M4 with 14.5 inch barrel, we have two of them & they have been flawless. For the $699 we paid Marstar, I would not hesitate to buy them all over again!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. My wife showed PM Harper a pic of her shooting her PINK M4... PINK YOU SAY... Yup, with Calvary Arms furniture! Best damn shooting sports ambassador EVER! ALL the girls at the range want to shoot it!

I bought a CQ with a 14.5 barrel earlier this year. I have plenty of experience with the C7/C8 and was a little hesitant about buying a Chinese AR.

I didnt get a chance shoot with it until a month or two ago. I upgraded a bunch of parts, nothing mechanical except for a Spikes Tactical Heavy carbine buffer with the tungsten powder inside, a better quality buffer spring and a left-handed charging handle. After slapping an EOTech sight, quad-rail hand guard and some magpul stuff, I took her out to the range, dumped a generous amount of CLP on to the bolt carrier and put 500 rounds through it in about 3 hours.

I brought all my AR mags out to see if there would be any issues, Standard 30rd aluminium, Magpul 30rd PMAgs, coupled 10rd LAR mags and the garbage 5rd that comes with it.

I had ZERO stoppages! consistant groupings, clean ejections and smoothing chambering. I had only one issue and that was with the 5rd mag that comes with the rifle because I have a B.A.D. lever the bolt will not lock back once empty but its fine with all my other mags.

I was quite surprised as I figured I would have at least a few stoppages.
