My son and me took my new to me Baikal 12 gauge out for a test with some buckshot and birdshot. :) On the way back out of the bush an unlucky rabbit found his way out in front of us.
The kid grabbed the shotgun out of the back seat of the 4x4 and loaded one barrel with 7 1/2 shot.
One shot at 30 yards and got his first wabbit with the :shotgun:sxs Baikal 12 gauge:shotgun:

Here on Vancouver Island the cottontails are open all year around. It's nice that you make accusations instead of reading the reg's.
They are an introduced species and considered a pest and can be shot where ever encountered, no bag limit either.

Guys - europeans are open year round - they're cat c for heaven's sake.

Amphib - if you're going to accuse someone of poaching you HAD BETTER be right. THat is unacceptible - and you of all people aught to know the regs a little better in the first place.

Now say you're sorry, or i'm going to write a note home saying you're not playing well with others :)

Schedule "C" animals can be captured or killed anywhere and anytime in BC
(a) American bullfrog
(b) All species of snapping turtles
(c)North American possum
(d) Eastern Cottontail...........these are what we have here and that's what he shot,he is fully licenced and had it with him. To top it off we were in the shotgun only area. So call the CO's ,I will post my phone number if you like. The kid knows more about the reg's than you do.......you're an idiot.

Yeah - and he got called on that already :) Lets get back to the 'my kid managed to bag a rabbit' part, and drop the 'amphib is an idiot' part.

Good job Dad

Good stuff! Unfortunate that a silly post takes from it..., but only if ya let it!

No doubt this will be the one he remembers forever!!!!

I can still remember the first time I hit a bottle in the air that my dad through up for me. I had missed 6 in a row, and it was getting dark. He said " last one we gotta get home". Bang, it went to dust and blew back in his face. He spit and said you "you really hit that one"
oh it felt great, I finally had it down how to point a shotgun.

i have since missed more partridge in his presence then I care to mention, and he still just bang bang and drops em.

Why is there a problem with shooting a varmint/rodent?

next thing we'll bashin the gopher hunters.

303, stop replying. you'll get hot under the collar and just end up in ####ty mood.

you know who the people that count are, and the ones that don't count, well, they don't!

cheers

Hey 303- I remember my first rabbit too. My Dad and I together. I grew more that day than any other. Congratulations are in order. Just don't teach him all the tricks. You'll never live it down when he makes better shots than you!
