Well its not a deer but i am super pumped about it. Was walking back to the truck this evening from deer hunting and seen this tasty bugger in the bush next to my truck. Ended up being a perfect neck shot from about 15 yards. It's sad how pumped I am about it.

Just wait till you take a deer with your bow, it will surpass any kill with your rifle.:D Im already planning for next years archery season!!

Congrats on the kill, Im sure he'll be fine table fare.

Cheers!!

YES!!! Now remember, when they're in trees, keep the trunk at their backs, and make sure you can climb up to the arrow :D

Good shootin!

great feeling.my first bow kill was a coyote at under 4 yards.I was so happy it was all i could think about and I have killed hundreds with a rifle but non beat that.then my deer for being a little buck it was still better than and rifle kill I have on bigger deer.

Nice! Ruffies are a pain to get a good hit on, if you don't want diced grouse!

I second the game tip ! Get a Zwickey Judo tip, same weight as your broadheads. They shoot pretty well, and the arms on the head catch on the grass, or whatever, to prevent the arrow from skipping for the horizon.

I usually carry it on the arrow farthest from me, in the quiver. Do what works for you.

I bought some similar to the judo tips, and on the first shot I took with one, the ends all broke off the springs. Ugh! Buy the real thing!

Judo tips make for deadly gopher whackers, too!

I had a chance last sunday, didnt take it, was afraid I ll spooke a buck:(

but here is a question, for a ruffies I cary a field point (also furthest away from me in the quiver) but Im not sure if the CO will like it, or if its legal to use on a small games, like a rabbit or a grouse, but it sure is usefull to ensure my zero point is correct (I cary a small target in my truck)

Thanks for the replies. I think i will get a tip for small game and keeping it farthest away in the quiver. That was honestly the first shot that I have ever taken with a broadhead. I have taken many with field points but non with the actual broadhead. My girlfriend thinks I'm hilarious for being so proud...I guess she might not get any meat. ha, ha. I can't wait till i get a deer with my bow, it should be good.

Get a couple packs of the Judos, or whatever small game head suits your fancy.

Wanderin' and shootin' dandelions or takin' shots at grass clumps, leaves, or gophers, is a good way to tune the hand-eye coordination, and it's a lot of fun.

Even better if you have a hunting partner to go out with you, but practice is good! Any practice.

I doubt that the CO's will give you any trouble over the field point, but if you let it go on a low angle shot, you might never see it again. That is the real advantage to the judo's or other small game tips, that the arrow is easilly recovered.

Check your regs to see if they have any specifics for small game.
