Hey guys, just about finished my first build, grown up lego is right! I have a couple more lined up after this so I wanted to get a couple newb questions out of the way.

1) BCG : So I picked a new Brownells BCG and I'm just wondering if I drop it in and go or if I should disassemble it and give it a lube job. If it was used I'd consider it a no-brainer, I'd give it a good thorough going over but as a new one should I lube it?

2) Brake install: So everything went smoothly until I got to the brake. I basically need to do a full rotation to get it into position as it's where it should be at finger tight. Cranking it with my biggest wrench I get it half way there but I can't get it tighter. Recommendations? Shims? Try a different crush washer? Get a bigger wrench? Grow some man muscles?

Any help is appreciated guys, doing this my first time has been a blast, but it would always be nice to have some local knowledge here.

1) just cause it’s new doesn’t mean it’s good to go. Strip it down and lube it. Then if you can have the headspace checked.

2) get shims.

You could try backing it on and off until it lines up.
Or a Jam but works well.

I just removed the firing pin and sprayed some cleaner, cleaned , lubed, reassembled.

Just get a jam nut for your muzzle brake aligning is a piece of cake

Sorry guys, should have been more specific. That's with the jam nut installed. I get about a half more rotation out of it because of the nut but then she don't want to go no more. I'm not sure if it's totally flattened out at that point but I've got my largest wrench on it trying to get more leverage and I can't get any more out of it. Thinking of trying a different jam nut or throwing shims in.

Universal consent is that the new stuff needs a good lube job, thanks!

what you have is a crush washer, jam nut is thread nut with wrench flats that you thread onto your barrel first, next you screw in your brake to the position you desired than you back out the jam nut against the muzzle brake to to jam it in place.
