Hi all,
First off all thank you CGN this forum is awesome!! I learn so much and got a bunch of greats advises from all of you. You made me buy my first AR a DD M4V5 witch I'm very happy but after reading all those build threads I decide to give it a try. I want a FDE MK18 but didn't want to buy the complete rifle. I want to buy as much as possible from the forum sponsor because they made this forum possible...:canadaFlag: I didn't have budget so I decide to read and gather information on every parts that suit ME. It's my first build so might as well make it unique so I give Cerakote a try, had to buy sandblasting cabinet and build a oven. So lets the quest of parts begin, that was the fun part...:D I was like a kid at Christmas waiting for Santa(Postman).

So here the result,
Upper: Aero Precision Upper (CTCS)
DD 10.3'' Barrel (Wolverine)
DD MK18 FDE Rail (Wolverine)
DD Low Profile Gas Block (CRAFM)
EOTech EXPS 2-0 (CRAFM)
BCM Mod4 Charging Handle (Questar)
Magpul MBUS (Questar)
LMT FA BCG (EE)
Tango Down QD Vertical Grip (EE)
Surefire Muzzle Brake MB556K (EE)
Surefire X400 (non-sponsor)

Lower Aero Precision Lower (Saskatoon Gun Work)
DD Lower Part Kit ''bought all the part individually'' (Wolverine)
DD Buffer Tube (Wolverine)
VLTOR IMOD Stock (Wolverine)
GG&G QD End-Plate (Wolverine)
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard (Wolverine)
Magpul BAD Lever (Wolverine)
Geissele Super Tricon Trigger ''WOW'' (ArmsEast)
BAD Ambi Safety Selector (One Shot Tactical)
BCM Mod1 Grip (non-sponsor)

After the acetone bath all the parts go inside the homemade oven for the ''gas out'' step:

After sandblasting waiting to be paint:

The final result:

All the parts was bought from Canadian retailler:canadaFlag: and I'm proud of it!! I probably paid more then buying a complete rifle but the fun, the experience and the personal satisfaction was PRICELESS..:D. I shoot 250 rounds of Norinco,PMC,Remington and AE to test it without any malfunction. I still want to replace the charging handle for a ambi Rainier Arms Raptor or BCM ambi Mod44? And the MagPul MBUS with Troy set or Matech rear/KAC M4 Folding Front? Any advise? Let me know what you think. I'm already looking for parts for a 7.5'' build that thing is a ADDICTION!!

HAHA I didn't do break down of the cost yet i just finish it last Friday and I'm not sure I really want to know :bangHead::confused: lol but out of my head over 2500$ without all the tools to do the Cerakote but it was FUN...;)

Nice job. And talk about ambitious. Taking it way beyond rattle-can flat black for sure :)

Is that FDE as dark out in the sun? I'd like to try something like that but most I've seen are super light colors. Maybe brown ARs will be the new black ;)

I used my own mix of Patriot Brown and Barrett Bronze Cerakote, it turn out very dark almost as dark as the DD FDE but just more brownish. It's not a 100% match with the DD FDE, I might redo it later...I still have 5 colors of Cerakote and a few rifles and pistols to do first. It's hard to pick colors for a mix base on a website and Cerakote only ship by UPS(brokerage fees rip off)

Very nice build. The cerakote looks great! I'm a personal fan of the BCM Mod 4 charging handle, don't really need to switch it out. Although, no harm in trying the Rainier Arms ambi. Easy enough part to switch out.

As for sights, if you want to build something closer to a "real" Mk18, KAC front and rear flip ups are the way to go. I'm a huge fan of the KAC Micro 200-600 rear flip up.

SureFire Break on a 10 inch gun. Why

and you are allowed to say where you bought all your parts. Dont say Non-sponsor.

The SureFire break on a 10" is for the cool and FUN factor, I know it's LOUD and with the AE ammo I have a flame thrower too but I love it :p
I know I'm allowed to name other store but those items were very common, just out of of stock with the site sponsor so I decide not to name the non-sponsor retaillers. Naming the retaillers was my way to thanks them for sponsoring this awesome forum and to show to the others noob like me that's possible to build AR with our retailers.

Very nice.

I remember my first build.
My safe was filled with 13 ARs and parts for another two before the therapy started.
My therapists insisted on me selling one or two to buy bulk ammo.
It was part of his grand scheme to prove I could only carry and fire one at a time.

,,,he was wrong the whole time,,,:p

I'm in the same boat.

Started with just picking up the SFRC NEA lower deal.
Then I needed a LPK, then it was a buffer tube and buffer, then it was a magpul grip, then it was an AR wrench, then it was searching for an upper, then it was some magpul moe hand guards, then i needed a couple parts for my 1911.

...when does it stop??

I was thinking to Cerakoting my PWS in FDE.
Very beautiful Cerakoting job. Love your DIY oven.
