First bunny of the year

Still lots of dark colors on the upper body, but slowly turning colors.

Nice late afternoon walk in the woods.

I wasn't the only one hunting bunnies. This is a very dark photo but that is rabbit fur caught in the foliage.
Near the swamps, the coyotes were often very close nearby waiting for an opportunity.

Shot with a 20 gauge @35 meters. Used those newer Prairie Storm #6's and a fixed full choke barrel.
All the trauma was to the neck believe it or not and the way his head is, you cannot see the wound from this picture.
No fleas, and no parasites of any kind. When I stretch the barrel a bit, I prefer to hold the barrel one bead higher on target.
So far this works just fine for me.

Took my first ever last week while out grouse hunting with a buddy. Dumb bunny ran onto the trail, stood up and looked at me. I gave him a 12-gauge full of 7 1/2's to the mind. I gotta say, even though it was a clean kill, I was shocked at how much the kick after being hit. I'll know for next time, I guess!
