Well fellas I am almost packed for a quick 3-4 day mission up north for some Rusa deer and hopefully find a Stag!

taking the 7mm08 with the 140s , it might be a bit much but guess there is no time to play with 139s or 120s ,

my friend up north rang to say the herd that come and go from his land , have returned and before summer heats up, tht I should come and try for a stag!

fingers crossed!

may have some photos of a Rusa stag on the deck, or atleast some rusa deer live pics!
 
I'm back, had a bit of fun hunting the rusa, was a good ice breaker for next years rut!
I did have some limited success early on in the weekend, which turned out to be the only shooter seen for the few days we hunted.

temps were high aroun 30 D Celsius and then a windy morning seen the deer moving off the improved stuff early on.

it was something I wasn't familiar with, hunting in small acrage, much like some of you guys do perhaps for white tails or muleys down on the farms close to towns etc with small patches of scrub, and boundries not too far from each other! a small window of opportunity as the deer don't really live on the property but moved off into a National Park during the day..

my first Rusa stag after around 10 years of knowing they were in the area I visited from time to time but not having access.......... finally gained access!

Gday flutchi, the seasons have been closed during Winter / Spawn but Victoria has just opened the trout streams and NSW is not too far away aswell.....
I think ill do a bit of fly fishing later on in the year

Great lookin Stag you have their WL, hope the success continues with more pics and stories of both the Ungulate type and of the Fish as well.
