So I finally got my ATT this week and I finally brought my toys to the range. So out came my M&P .22 and I was getting a lot of failure to feeds when I put a freshly loaded mag.

I would load 10 rounds, insert the mag and when I would close/rack the slide, I would get stove pipes. So I thought maybe let me try with 9 rounds, but the same thing was happening.

Anyone know why this was happening? Keep in mind I was shooting cci minimags

My G/F has this problem with my Sig 1911 .22 and I never have any problems with it. It came down to the fact she was not letting the slide snap forward when she was loading the first round. She started using the slide release and has had no more problems.

I dont know if its the same thing in your case but if your racking it to release the slide try using the slide release instead.

Well if it's a new gun, it's possible the mag simply needs some break-in time. Or the ammo is a bit wonky. You've got to experiment a bit (as the other guys are saying) to find stuff that works in your gun.

Finally, stovepipes are only an issue in competition or self-defense situations, neither of which are of any concern for a range gun. So just shoot and enjoy it.

Did you clean and lube properly?
My old padys mosquito ran like crap for the first bit but worked better after a few rounds and proper lubing

When I first got it, I cleaned it and applied a coat of frog lube and and hoppes oil on the rails.

Funny you mentioned this, later on in my session I started using the slide release and it wasn't happening.. With the M&P 22 I find the slide doesn't close as fast or with the same strength as the other M&Ps.
