For Christmas I received a 1942 #4 Mk 1, and would like to return it to (as close to) as original as possible. I'm not to concerned about matching serial numbers and such, but I would like to put on the hands guards and full wood fore stocks, ect. the sights are original, and the barrel is uncut.
I'm kind of new at this, as my other 2 Lee-Enfields were family hunting pieces, and will never be modified from their current sporterized conditions, but this one I think should be made so again.
So, what I am look for is a list of parts needed, and approximate prices.
This one is going to be my first restoration project, and I would like to get it done right, which is why I am asking for all or you help. I will post pictures if I can figure it out, and keep you poseted on its progress.
Thanks in advance, Quinn

For a standard restoration you will need:

Fore end
Upper hand guard
lower hand guard
But stock (if the current one is in good shape and matches in color it can be used again)
Front sight protector+screw
front barrel band+screw
rear barrel band+sling swivel+screw
Hand guard ring (holds on rear of the upper hand guard)

This is pretty much all you are going to need, assuming is just a basic bubba (wood cut down only and front sight protector removed)

For a price, Complete, new old stock kits pop up here and their, but the auctions uually hit the $150 mark. Springfield Sporters in the US was the cheapest place, but last I heard they are not shipping to Canada as of now. other then these, i suggest putting a WTB add on the EE.
