Hello everyone, I am currently in the process of obtaining my PAL/RPAL and i cant wait to get my first handgun. But the problem is, I dont really know what kind of models are suitable for a first timer. I have done some research and a lot of people recommended any of the GLOCK pistols but I dont really like the design of it. Also I find the 22 caliber pistols not really appealing. Personally, I loved the design of the Jericho 941 baby eagle 45ACP but i heard some say that its a bad gun/ should not be used for your first gun. And I do love the revolvers too.

So Im asking you pros for your advice! Help this newbie get his first gun!

Not a pro by no means. Buy what you want. My first was a 9mm and 357 mag revolver, all at the same time. Ammo for the 9mm is half price of the 357.
But , the 357 can shoot 38specials, which are cheaper.

If possible, get some trigger time with a buddy, dont get pushed into something you wont be happy with.

Happy spending!!

My advice, go to a rental place and rent as many as you can. Shoot them all, then make your decision. If there is no rental place near you, then I'm sure if you head to your local range, most people would be happy to let you try their handguns, if you pay for the ammo.
My 2 cents worth, your mileage may vary.

One of the great things about pistols, and firearms in general, is they don't depreciate much. So if you buy something and find it's not to your liking, or even you want to try something else, you can resell it with minimal loss. So find what you WANT and purchase that. If you find you can't perform with it, resell it and get something else.

I have little first hand experience but it's been said to me to get a .22LR (specifically I asked about the GSG) and put lead down range. Get used to get, get good at it. Little recoil, easy to control rise, and cheap to feed. Once I get bored with it, sell it. The cheapest one I've seen on EE was $100 less than new and had a firing problem with certain ammo.

I've always wanted a Glock - so that'll be on the "next" list.

well then, I will take you all's words :) i think im going to try our the jericho 941 along with other ones and see which one fits me the best.
oh and just one last question, if I go to a gun shop, would they let me try out a gun before i purchase it?

Generally not shoot it, no. That's why Jim recommended getting to a rental range and trying everything out first. Small investment to save a bunch of time buying and selling.

I love the look of the 941 too. Not sure why they're not more popular.
