I would like to hear some opinions, if anyone has some to share, good or bad, on the Sauer 202 Outback in 270 Win mag?

The Outback as far as I know is the synthetic, rubber like stock, which feels great. One of these was offered to me by a good friend looking to move some of his collection along. He is offering to include a Leupold VX3 scope.

Is this a decent first gun for deer hunting?

At that price it better be quality. However I believe that Sauer is owned by the same company that owns Mauser, so that should indicate that they are good to go. You may have better luck posting this in the Hunting and Sporting Arms subforum.

Thanks for the input. The price is much less than new and it's within my initial set budget so I'm happy to spend the money if the riffle is ok. Without knowing much about any of this I was eyeing up a Tikka or Browning but again, all subject to see how it fits and feels. If this one fits and feels right I figure it will do just fine, right?

Should I ask a mod to move it or repost this in the hunting section?

It’s a good gun, buttery smooth action, parts and support are pretty much non existent. Barrels are easy to change and can be done at home. It’s heavier than comparable guns. The aluminum alloy receiver guns have a history of cracking and stripping scope mount holes. Extra magazines are expensive when you can find em, as a hunting rifle it will last many lifetimes.

I have a few of the ssg3000 guns which are essentially the same mechanics and they haven’t let me down

Yes, very good rifle with the ability to swap calibers easily.
