Well I have fired about 400 rounds in my new Carbine model and must say"this thing needs trigger work!" I also own a Savage with Accutrigger so im sort of comparing the 10/22 to that.

Im in need of some help here guys..what should I do for the trigger? also what are the mandatory upgrades I should do? not looking for stocks or barrels just yet.

Other than the trigger im liking the Ruger more than my Savage BVTS in .22Mag.

Also any opinions on using a bore snake on the Ruger? seems a lot more easy to clean with one.

Rim Fire Central has some great mods/info for the 10/22. Check them out.

I am getting a VQ replacement shortly, as I agree with you in regards to the trigger.

I do not like using the boresnake. I use a dewey rod and brass jag from the muzzle end. You can drill a small hole in the back receiver if you do not want to do it from the crown.

Dlask receivers have them already drilled.

I second the Volquartzen parts from Rimfire Sports and Custom, I put in the Volquartsen Ruger 10/22 Ultra Match Hammer & Sear and it made a huge difference, much better and easy to do. They also have free shipping to Canada on everything except rifle stocks.

They no longer offer free shipping!!

I guess its back....great news. I just checked the site again

I too am a new owner ( since x-mas ) and I did all the basic mods.

The auto bolt release mod was very simple to do.
I too hated the trigger and got the Volquartsen Match Hammer and Sear, Volquartsen Exact Extractor, and Tuff Bolt Buffer from Hawtech Arms.
I polished the reciever as well.

Today I'm going to chamfer the bolt. These are all inexpensive and very easy mods.

Hope that helps.

cant say much about the gun but i will say boresnakes are a rediculous invention that are, imho, totally useless. if it were me i'd just properly field strip the whole thing every 500 rds, but i enjoy that kind of thing... or go with a hole in the reciever.
if money is no object, there is the otis cleaning system which is far far superior to a boresnake

I just put a brick through mine for the first time too. Its all stock right now. Just mounted my 3-9X32mm scope and im awaiting my auto bolt release, extractor and buffer. Im addicted.

I agree, im going to have to change out the trigger and maybe have my bolt chamfered as well.

Might have to move my scope around cause i think it might be too close to the rings...

Don't mean to hijack but heres mine :D

Thabks for the tip sako6br!

I'm new too so don't worry :)

From what I've read the factory extractor can have a hard time ejecting some type of ammo sometimes. The upgrade allows for a more positive extraction.

Someone stop me if I'm wrong...

The bolt buffer reduces the recoil pressure on you and I think it lowers wear and tear on the bolt.

Chamfering the bolt rounds some edges so that the action cycles easier. less friction? It helps the bolt cycle for subsonic ammo.

Look for 'rimfire sports' on google.

Im about to order these parts..what do you guys think? anything else I should grab while im ordering?? not really looking to spend a fortune.

Volquartsen Ruger 10/22 Bolt Recoil Buffer
