Had my first IPSC fun shoot in Kelowna BC today. Had a great time even though the weather was pretty lousy and it rained hard for 3 of the 7 stages. There were 3 groups that staggered the stages. Groups had shooters from multiple divisions, open, standard, and production so there was a mix of very fast shooters and first time shooters. Everything moved pretty quickly and there were no major issues. Some shooters had debates over some calls....big surprise...the RO won the arguments (which from what I saw were the right calls). At the end of the day I think almost everyone went home happy.
Spent a couple hours setting up Saturday but many hands made for light work and great courses (I'm a local). Sunday shooting started at 10 and ended around 1500. We had to clean up one bay when we were done as it was on the RCMP course, but again many helpers made quick work of that.
I really liked the mix of experienced shooters with us rookies so that we could learn from those who really knew what they were doing. Some of the open guns there were works of art, pretty fancy gear. To anyone thinking about getting into a black badge course I'd really recommend it because its a really fun way to spend a weekend. Much more fun then stationary plinking at targets.
