Just thought I'd share my first attempt at 1600+m,

I was up at the cottage last weekend, prior to leaving for the cottage I made arrangements to hook up with a fellow CGN'er Sean from North Shore Barrels in Espanola.

Day one Sean joined me, we scouted for better spots for a bit but then decided to shoot on my property. We had one target set up at 340m and another set up at 568m. This posed to be a good distance to start up at as it was windy as hell that day, 40km/hr (approximately). Man I wish Santa brought me that Kestrel 4500. There were white caps on the North Channel!

We had 2 .338LM, a 260rem and a 50BMG out that day!

Unfortunately I did not bring out the camera that day, so no photos.

Day two was spent sucking up with the wife as I was gone the entire day before.

Day three was spent setting up shooting sites for Day 4, I found 3 nice spots to shoot from and 4 areas to safely put targets.

Targets were set up at 800m, 1040m, 1260m & 1605m.

Day 4 was spent shooting 75 rounds out of the .338LM and enjoying myself to no end!

Next time I need some company! AND MORE AMMO!!!!!!!

By the time I got to the last 1605m target setup I only had 10 rounds remaining. I was on in 2 shots, 20.5MIL elevation and 5.5MIL of windage (and allot of luck). But as the photo does not lie I only made 4 hits at 1605m.

First time at this distance, and let me tell you I was happy as hell.

I’m very happy with my T-Wolf!

A few photos!

Nice.

Note to self - I travel around Elliot Lake area a fair bit -- so if I'm up that way and decide to spend a day down near Espanola and launch the boat in the North Channel - I'm going to PM you FIRST to make sure I'm not boating in your impact area...

Wow! That is very impressive. I suppose water would be a pretty handy shooting range, don't have to worry about trees getting in your way ... just boats.

Great stuff. I know what it feels like to reach a long range personal best! It just keeps getting better. As previously asked, what recipe were you using?

Regards,

the back stop is not open or boating water, its arround 2' deep with as much rock as water, I think it looks like the moon, its a great spot, its all private shore line on a point, the closest house/cottage is 1.5km away. I will not shoot here in the summer, during summer I am restricted to the front field that Sean and I shot two days before, max 700m ish.

Load Data.

Lapua Brass
Federal 215M primer
92.5g H1000
250 gr Scenar, 3.725" OAL (yes 250gr'erz)
MV av. 2975fps

And yes, those rocks suck to shoot from, I did go and get a piece of plywood to help me out.

Great Pics and Awesome shooting. Good on ya for putting the work into getting the targets out there too. It's not like you could just drive up to the target with your truck. Boat yes but rocky shoreline, makeshift stands etc.

Great thread.
