Okay guys,

Finally got around to making my first batch of shells the other day. Did it on my own after only been shown how to reload by my uncle years ago, so hopefully they will turn out okay :? (followed the manuals very carefully though, so I am thinking I should be okay). I made 20 shells of .270 using 150gr Hornady SST bullets, CCI 200 primers, and IMR 3031. I used 41gr of powder per case and am going to use them mostly for deer hunting. What do you guys think? Comments please :D .

Shoot the 20, then go back to your bench and work up a load. Beginning with the starting load, load 5 rounds, then go up by half a grain, loading 5 of each, until you reach the maximum in your manual. Keep them separated. Then go shoot off a bench at 100 yards, shooting for group only. Once you find the most accurate load for your rifle, load 20 or so more and sight in. Not that it takes 20 rounds to sight in. It can be done with 3 rounds, but it's not as much fun.

As long as you follow what the manuals say and the instructions about setting your dies ,scales etc , you will be fine and will enoy many nites in the reloading room.

Have a good time

3031 powder is best suited for small cases like the 22-250 and the 30-30 Winchester...

...If I were you I'd go pick up a pound of 4350 or 4831
