Hey guys
I am Finally entering the very Select AR gun Club. After having my Restricted pal for over 10 years I finally made the jump Last summer. Bought my first restricted Handgun and got addicted. Then I saw a guy at the range with a AR and needed one. I sold my target rifle and few .22 to finance the beast. Then I started look after a Few new model. Availability was always a issue. Then high price range , Quebec transfer delay if buying a used or new semi rifle ... The next step was builting one
It was a long wait but I was able to finally lay my hands on a AR (parts) last week.

If I did my homework right, all the missing parts should be in the mail and at my door within the next 2 weeks.

I would like to thanks all the CGN Seller who helped me with that build , Thanks !

It is work in progress , And I will need you guys help with torque spec and how to check and or adjust the headspace for optimal accuracy. If someone in Quebec or Ontario could help with that. I dont mind driving a few hours and will pay if needed
I never handled a AR in my life or shoot one. Everything I know about AR was Read in here, AR15.com, Brownells or Youtube.

Now it really starting to take form. I got some moe parts , and found out that I would need some Special tool :S

Well I thought I would give my skills a shot before spending $$$
So I Created this: The REALLY POOR MAN upper Action block and free float wrench
IMG_2681.jpg

Worked ok for assembly but I would not try to unscrew a seized nut with it. I will need to add that Upper vise block tool to my Xmas gift list.

I am waiting on the Gas block and just realized I forgot to order a front sight. Any suggestion, sight or detachable carrying handle ?

I can wait to try it.
I want to do a few reloads to start any suggestion ? I have 50,52,55 gr bullets with some BL-C 2 powder.

My guess is that the missing parts should come by the end of next week.
so more update to come
Thanks for the headspace info :D

Unless you like irons, I would just go with a low profile gas block and mount some optics. Not having the FSB will allow you to mount the optics lower, probably producing a better check weld on the stock.

PS, it looks good already

and I really do feel bad for you guys in Quebec

I was planning on having both Iron and Scope. I will probly not use the Iron much but I would like to give it a try. So Cheaper then better.

Well if more people would own and Shoot AR in Quebec , maybe laws would change and thing would get moving. But it's not the Case. When Ill first bring this baby at the range 99% of the hunters will look at me like I am criminal.
Again this is Quebec, highly Jalous people who really hates when others have more fun then them.

I was Just wondering with these free float tube. when you tighten the barrel nut. how you do it ? I tight it by hand as much as I could. I was in the middle of 2 holes for the gas tube to align. So I used my tool to turn until the next hole was center with the receiver and the tube perfectly fit the bolt. is that how you guys do it ? I could probably go to the next hole but it would start to get very tight for those cheap aluminum Thread. Thats what I think but I could be wrong , You tell me

If you get a railed gas block you can put on a BUIS set and still run optics... co-witness and then fold down the BUIS, and you're laughing.

If you haven't ordered the gas block yet, definitely get one that's got a rail section.

I got some more parts Today
Now I just dont understand how come Brownells Delivery faster then Blue line. and it was shipped after blue line order.

I dont like to ##### about dealers I am a very Patient guy but sometime things need to be said in order to make them change.
I placed the order with blue line on the 26 of January order was process over a week later. Transfer under my name was done February the 19th. it was shiped only March the 5th. I also had to call to ask what was going on. After that things moved fast
As from now I still havent received my lower Receiver. I might come later this afternoon since it's one day late already.

One thing I noticed Blue line got paid on the 26th of january 2010. Ive been charged $25 of shipping for Pony express speed.
Maybe I am the only one who got that kind of experience, I am badlucked I guess. I have ordered from other dealers, CGNer's and had faster service. I hope the product will be worth the WAIT !!!

here is what brownells brought me

volks_r_us,

If you are waiting for your lower receiver from Blue Line... I'll bet you a dollar that the problem isn't with Blue Line, but with the Quebec CFO's office!!!

I've seen transfer for 1st restricted rifle take between 2-6 months... with the odd one going on 9 months. (Thank to that new bill #9)

If the transfer is taking too much time, you might want to send a fax to the CFC/RCMP (613-993-0260)... include all the details pertaining to the transfer... and ask them why it is taking so long.

Mike.

PS: Don't waist your time calling in... You want your inquiry to be documented and have a paper trail.

The transfer was complete on 19 Feb. He has grounds for complaining........and he paid extra for Pony Express!

I even called my CFO and they couldnt figure out why I havent got the receiver yet. This Phone call was on March the first. I was strongly encourage to contact blue line by Quebec CFO and if I could not reach them, Call back and they would take care of it.
Really nice people work at Quebec CFO I always had first class service.

UPDATE
I just got a email response from blueline they already contacted Canadapost to figure out what was going on

In response to your complaints: we made sure we did all that we could to ensure your order was processed quickly and efficiently. Your card was pre-authorised the same day that we received your order and started the transfer. Your credit card company’s posted date of payment is different from the date we charged you. Payment was first processed by Chase Paymentech and then forwarded to your bank for finalization. This process sometimes takes time and dates differ. The processing of your registration was slow because the Quebec CFO is much slower than other provincial CFO’s in completing transfers. We had spoken to the Quebec CFO three times requesting that your transfer be sent to us. First time we contacted them was before you initially contacted us by phone. In order to speed up the process we requested it be sent to us via fax. We never received a fax copy of the transfer and were forced to wait for a mailed copy. Your order was shipped the same day as we received the transfer paperwork.
We sent your package via Canada Post’s Expedited service. You were charged $20 for shipping and handling, insurance and a signature upon delivery. Expedited service guarantees delivery within 4 business days. Once the package is shipped we have no control over when it is delivered. Canada Post is currently investigating the issue.

So maybe Canada lost your Paperwork from QC CFO in February. Thats why you had to phone them many time. Then I had to phone my CFO and you. Now that I am still waiting After Canada post I have no problem believing it.
You did nice job contacting the CFO and Canada post.

I dont really understand the Credit card thing but I know that your invoice was on my January credit card Statement. I was not Charge when the part was shipped like other Store. Thats your Store policy and it's fine.

I am just a customer that get bad lucked with canada post. Canada Post Slow us down both ways I guess
#### happens and it's all good.

You Took care of the Canada post Issue really fast Today.

Thanks

If you can remove it by hand, it's not tight enough. Remove the nut, put a little anti-seize on the threads and tighten it up again. There's a specific torque you're supposed to tighten it to but most people just tighten it by feel. You can use a good amount of force without ruining those 'cheap aluminum thread', although I wouldn't suggest using a 6 ft bar ;)

Canada Post will refund postage if they fail to provide the service that was contracted/paid for, but the consignor (Blue Line) must initiate this. This in turn should be refunded to the consignee (volks_r_us).

Well package still hasn't been delivered.
when I track the Lower receiver it show it's in Montreal the the CP warehouse which is a 10 min walk from my home. Package is now 5 days late. Blueline has initiated a claim, they are waiting on Canadapost reply. Should I call my CFO to ask for another ATT or report the lower Lost. My ATT was expiring Today ?

I am already thinking of buying another Receiver since Claim with Canada post takes normally 2 months to solve.
this situation Suck big time but it's not blueline fault, neither mine or the CFO. Its canada post
