Picked up my first pistol yesterday, a Springfield Armoury XD-40 from the great people at P and D Enterprises in Edmonton. Can't wait to get the long term ATT so that I can try it out at the range. Will post pics tonite when I get home from work.:)

Welcome to the pistol club.

I have never owned an XD, but I understand they are a good choice of gun and many on here will say you made the right choice.

Have fun....

WCTHEMI, congratulations on becoming a pistolero. I love the pistol you chose but not the calibre. In your shoes I would have opted for a 9mm, 45acp, or 45GAP. That is just me but I hope you enjoy your new toy! Regards, Richard:D

If you live in Edmonton, I hate you!!! Don't you guys have plentiful indoor ranges?! Donate one to us Vancouver guys!

Congrats on the pistol! :):)
I've only heard good things about it.

I live about 1.5 hours northwest of Edmonton. I believe there is a good number of ranges within 30 minutes of Edmonton, I am lucky as the local fish and game club has an approved range less than five minutes from my house. Richard, thanks for your input, but I kinda decieded that I wanted a 40 when I began looking at pistols. And for the amount I will be shooting, the small price difference for ammo won't effect me at all.

Congrats on the buy!
I expect a range report!
An XD is definately on my short list, but have yet to hold one let alone fire one.
Have fun!

I will definately post a range report, but probably not targets as my shooting skill, as they say, leaves a little to be desired. But I guess you gotta start somewhere.

Here's a couple pic's.

WCTHEMI,
A nice choice! If you ever decide to go 9mm you can get a 9mm conversion barrel from Bar Sto and have both calibres in one gun.

From your photo's I see you bought the *cheap* plinking ammo.:D A little pricey for punching paper but great to have on hand if your attacked by zombies.:p

Have fun with your new toy.

Cheers!

Just bought a good box to have on hand, I bought some cheap stuff to blast away at the range. If I recall correctly from the manual, I could also get a 357 Sig kit for it as well. Don't think that I will do that though, think I will look for a nice 22 to hammer rounds through at the range.

I will be contacting the CFO today for the long term ATT today. Was gonna do it yesterday, but I forgot to bring the registration papers to work with me. Hopefully it won't take to long to be approved as I am itching to try the XD out.

Hey! we can fix that! If you can pic a time to drag you butt up to Shooters choice I'll let you shoot mine in 9mm, and (hopefully) I'll have a .45 ACP in the next few weeks!:dancingbanana:

And WCTHEMI, you'll love her, she's a great shooting pistol, points well, and is reliable. (and it is a @#$!@#$ glock!) And don't worry about targets not being big enough, the only way to get better is to shoot, and happily thats fun!

Ok...its been a couple days, you must be hooked....have you bought your second pistol yet ?:D

Nope, not yet, been busy working since I picked it up, and leave for deer camp Monday for a week. But I have been looking at what to get next, that's for sure. Thinking about a revolver possibley. Just like tattoo's, guns are both expensive and addictive. But I knew that going in.:)

Well, got my long term ATT approved today, paperwork will be here on Tuesday. Was on hold longer than it took for application and approval for province wide. Must be part of the "Alberta Advantage" that I keep hearing about. Can't wait to get out to the range.:D :dancingbanana:
