Hey everyone, first post. How goes? I've been lurking here for quite a while, finally going to quit borrowing friend's firearms and dive into getting my own.

Looking to make a small initial investment, so obviously Norinco is in heavy consideration. I'd rather not have to sell any of my long guns to finance pistols.

I'm torn between the 1911A "Commander" in 45ACP or the CZ-85 clone in 40S&W. Also, the cheaper "Government" length 1911 seems intriguing. Does the longer 127mm barrel really make a signficant difference to balance/feel/handling/recoil? The "Gov" grips are ugly-as-sin brown plastic but the plan is to replace the crappy plastic grips on whatever I end up getting anyways.

I've searched around a bit, seems like some of you guys really dig the Norinco 1911's but there's not much on the CZ85 clone.

Anyone have any relevant input or experience with any of these pistols that could help kick my ass off the fence and settle on one?

Thanks in advance.

Armco's 1911 Commander. It is a good deal. And a much improved Nork.

I have been looking at this exact HG and for $480CDN it seems like a bargain.
I've read nothing but good things about Gunnar & Armco and would feel very confident that their products are second to none.
