Well boys, I bought my first pistol today. A few weeks back I had put a Norinco .45 1911 on order through Pro-Line Shooters, but recently cancelled it. Last night, I stopped buy with some guys and low and behold they had just recieved a VERY LIGHTLY used Springfield Armories 1911 A-1 complete with case, cleaning kit and 3 mags for 600 bucks. Bought it on the spot. Now the only thing I need to know now is who sells the cheapest ammo in town, because damn im gonna need a lot of it!

Cheers,
Duncan

"...the cheapest ammo in town..." That's not the best idea. Your new pistol may or may not shoot it well. Look into reloading. Makes the endless search for inexpensive ammo go away.
Wolf Bullets is in Kingston, Ont. The shipping to Calgary will eat any cost savings.

Try Canadian BDX, located in Alberta:

Montana Gold Bullets, Major Power factor of 182, excellent ball ammo.

actually to just go back to that discussion there,
is there a supplier in the toronto area that is good to check out?
I was going to go with Wolf for my needs, but I'm always open to other options.

any suggestions?

The last part was mostly a joke, but seriously, what are your guys opinions on this pistol? I do alright?

Take off $80 for 2 of the mags, pistol now comes to $520
IMHO, its a VERY good deal. Springfield makes a fine 1911. They are selling new here in Montreal for $725.00 with only one mag.

Enjoy your pistol, oh and as a sidenote, if you ever decide to CCW in the States, no problem bringing your Springfield into the U.S.
A Norinco is a definate NO-NO.

I will be going to the range in a couple of hours to test fire my new .45, can't wait!!!

Enjoy your new pistol, rest assured, you made a good deal.

Duncan71,

Welcome to the 1911 club! The SA M1911A1 is a very nice firearm. You did good. The last SA I saw at Pro-Line was the USGI in green. Now get out to the range and run that pistol. Canadian BDX is super busy right now with a crazy high demand for all the popular handgun calibers. So if you can't get any from them, head to Wholesale Sports and grab a few value packs of UMC .45 ACP 230gr MC. Its just down the hill from The Shooting Edge (by IKEA), which is a great range & club to be a member of.;)
