First pistol

A friend of mine is thinking about getting his first pistol and is wondering what a good caliber would be? He's not interested in a .22cal.He wants something with a bit more bang.A 9mm has crossed his mind but he heard they were not real accurate.Is this true or just some silly rumour??

It's the shooter first, the platform second and the cartridge last that dictates accuracy.
My opinion, of course. I have squeezed exceptional accuracy out of quality
9mm ammo.
