Had a Tikka CTR 6.5 that was my longer distance rig but wanted to build something a bit better for reaching longer distance.

Parts I have:
Tikka Tac A1 6.5
MDT Pro Comp muzzle brake
Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56

On order:
MDT Elite rings
MDT Baker wings
MDT 8.6” ARCA rail
MDT GRND bipod (may upgrade eventually)
Vortex flip caps
Wheeler folding level

Think that is about it. Will post some pics if the final when complete.

Going from the CTR to the Tac A1 will definitely be helpful. The chassis should be a little better. (Mind you mother CTR shoots lights out already.) you could have just swapped the stock to a chassis but a second rifle is always good!

Looks like everything in order is really adaptability extras. Arca rail is a great idea! I’ve never used the baker wings. I’ve heard the PRS crowd loves them for stability in bags.

With the GRND pod make sure you load the bipod effectively. It has slight play in the legs due to the design. If it’s not loaded properly it can throw accuracy. Spiked feet are my recommendation for solving that.

What’s your plans for it ? Just long range or planning to run PRS type matches ?

So what parts that you have on order add the the accuracy of the rifle that you are attaching them to?
Without going through the list….I ordered the MDT rings because I find it adds accuracy having my scope mounted on top of my rifle. Usually without scope rings I find myself a tad less accurate

Thanks for the reply and advice.
I appreciate it (y)(y)(y)

I plan on trying to extend my range with this rifle and eventually shooting PRS.
That and getting my IPSC black badge in 2025. (Not that IPSC is related to this rifle…just have an ambitious year planned)

My club only goes to 400 so will be joining ORA in the hopes of learning and shooting longer distances.

Perfect. Sounds like you will have a rifle that will be adaptable to both goals. The wings will also add weight and that will help mitigate recoil a little more.

I’m sure you will get well beyond 400 yards with that rifle.

Good luck on the black badge as well! I hope to do mine one day too!

That's not a build. Lol
That's attaching some aftermarket parts.

Well beyond 400 yards?
You don't need those parts to shoot 400yards.
A stock Tikka 6.5 creedmoor is cable of way more than 400 yards.

I don't see much point selling your CTR and buy a Tac A1, you only need to replace the factory stock with a MDT chassis, and that's pretty much a Tac A1 without 2 stage trigger.
