First Precision Rifle

I would say Remington and Savages are both pretty decent. This is always kind of a common topic whenever someone wants to get in to this hobby/sport/discipline. What I would suggest is do what I did the second time around. My first rifle I bought used and it had terrible groups (It was a remington chambered in 7mm rem mag and I am still kind of a new shooter) averaged about 8 inch groups and it was a hunting rifle. My second rifle I knew what I was looking for and when I decided to seriously start looking the guy at the store showed me a savage model 10 and it had everything I already wanted to do it done. I now own that savage I was looking at in the gun store and after a few times out shooting it, I have gotten 1.5 MOA groups (i'm still learning to shoot). The bottom line though is figure out what changes you plan on doing to it after you get it - there might be something already out there that is well suited to what you are looking for. Honestly I don't care for tikka's, ssg etc. They seem to be a little higher end with not many after market options and thus you are stuck with a factory rifle that will cost you a ton to make improvements to if they are needed. And to prove I am not biased I will say this, that I do agree my magazine in the mag well is a little loose fitting and the last time I took it in to the gun smith he said my top rail was a little loose, keep in mind tho that this rifle was also bought used (also it's now chambered in .308).

At the end of the day tho, the debate kinda does become a chevy vs. ford vs. dodge kinda thing. Although to be honest Remington 700's are kinda like a civic have you seen how many after market parts are for those things! Anyways another good peice of advice is to watch the sniper 101 youtube series and youtube any rifles you are considering getting in order to find reviews.

Honestly, what I could see myself possibly doing to it down the road is an aftermarket stock, trigger, and maybe a barrel down the road. Who knows, later on I could just want to buy another after I got good enough with this one.. which is what usually happens with us nutz.

So I've been thinking about what calibre to get as alot of people go with the 6.5x___. I've been trying to find a source for bullets and brass for reloading and having a hard time finding any. Where do you guys get it from, and is it a pain to get? I don't want to get into a calibre that down the road if shortages happen become unobtanium to get.
