Well, it has been a bit of a grind from the time I wrote my CFSC/CRFSC exams in March.

Friday the 3rd my 2 sons and I went out to the Poco range to try out my new (to me) guns. Later on, a friend of mine from work, who has never fired a handgun before, joined us out at the range. It was a beautiful sunny day, and other than my desire to be at the beach admiring some fine bodies, I was pumped to finally get a chance to fire my guns.

My black handled Tokarev TT33 is a non-refurb with an unknown amount of shots down the pipe. It was a local purchase that took almost 5 weeks to complete. My brown handled Tokarev is a factory refurb from Tradex, that I had converted to 9mm. I had about 800 rounds of 7.62 milsurp to shoot, and I purchased two boxes of 9 mm 115 gr. Blazer for the brown handled gun.

The black Tokarev shot very well. After a few magazines practise, I was able to keep all shots within a 10' circle at 15 metres. Over time, I was able to get that down to 6' groups per magazine, with the occasional flier here and there. I was extremely happy with this result. The gun performed well, with the occasional hangup where the slide didn't go all the way forward. Just like my son's SKS, this gun chucks the casings like an Olympic shot putter. :D

The brown handled gun shot well, but the casings dribbled out the ejection port. Several of them didn't eject, jamming the port, and requiring a manual extraction before continuing shooting. This happened a dozen times in the first 50 rounds shot. This gun also shot accurate, easily getting 10" groups, but it got very frustrating clearing the brass, so I basically stopped shooting it. I am thinking that this was partly due to the lighter grain bullets causing less pressure, and me limp wristing the gun a bit. I found that if I made a solid two handed grip, with my elbows braced on the shooting table, the casings would generally eject better.

My plan for this gun is to find a slightly weaker main spring, get the gun smoothed and the trigger tuned, and maybe shoot heavier bullets. I will most likely get the triggers reworked on both guns.

Anyways, I am very happy with these guns overall, everyone had a great time shooting them, and my buddy the pistol virgin left the range with a s*&t eating grin on his face.
