I've had nr long guns all my life but made an impulse buy on a s and w SD9ve last night (thanks reliable gun) is there a sticky or anything on here that tells me what I need to know as far as att and all that. I'm pretty sure I still have a valid range membership but will verify tomorrow. I want to make sure that all the is are dotted and ts are crossed before I get the gun in the mail. Will the CFO be contacting me ? Should I get a hold of them? Thanks in advance.

Nope you should be fine it will take probably a well or two to get it shipped as they must register it to your name, and that's that you will get the registration, and cuz of bill c-42 that's all you need

you will need a valid range membership to be able to take it shooting otherwise you get classes as a collector only, once you make your phone call to them to start your side of the transfer they will ask for a copy of it, then your off to the races, well, once you get your transfer notification then the conditions will be attached to your rpal then you can take it home, , after that you get a few weeks to fondle your new pistol while you wait for the registration to come in, then you can go play

if i missed a step or wording is wrong, i know someone else will chime in, but thats the general way it works :) have fun!!!, oh, buy lots of ammo and you may as well start shopping for number 2 now, its addicting :p

Att is now included in your rpal. You will be sent a new rpal with new conditions stating that you can transport the firearm to approves locations. (Range within province, gunsmith, etc) Just went through this recently with my first restricted. I did get a letter saying I needed to provide proof of range membership before transfer was completed.

???? I'll be sent a new RPAL? Mine is not due for renewal until 2019.

I have to start the transfer process? I thought reliable would do that.

I got another rpal card with the new conditions to go along with it. The card itself is the same with the same original expiry date. Seems like simply a reprint of the old card. The important part is the conditions included with it that you are always supposed to have on you with rpal

The dealer completes the transfer and should provide you with a transfer ref #. You don't have to do anything other than phone the CFC to obtain a STATT to take the item home from the store.

Since he bought from a dealer, the dealer starts and completes the transfer. If it's your first one you should call the CFO about a week in to check status and see if they require any info from you. Ie range/club membership proof

Since you bought it from a dealer, you don't have to call in at all. All you do is wait. Usually the pistol and the registration shows up on the same day or there about
