First rifle: buy or build?

There are some great rifles in the for sale section "EE" with scopes that would make good starter rifles. When you find your into it
then you will know better what you might want in the future. And that often depends on the range you have to shoot on and how
much time you want spend on all of it. Not that many places to shoot over 500 yds.

I'm new to this and have no experience with precision rifles so I'm no expert;I've just read about it.
A Savage Hog Hunter might give you most of what you're looking for : .308, 20" medium contour & threaded barrel, AccuTrigger, decent, if not great, stock, drilled and tapped for scope, LPA adjustable sights. You can hunt with it, looks like it would be a good bush gun, and you can easily build it up (from what I've read on Mystic's, and others web sites) as you wish to later on. After market support is good too. Good luck.
