Hey guys,

I'm looking for advice on a first rifle for my girlfriend. I already have a Savage MKII, and it's great, but I'd like something "cute" as she'd say for her to call her own. Bolt action preferred, and bonus points for pink/purple/pink camo/that kind of thing.

Just get her a Savage to match yours and order her the stock of her choosing from Boyds. Atleast it will be a accurate gun. Nothing turns off new shooters as much as not being able to hit anything.

If she is smaller and wants bolt action, there's always the Savage Rascal. Comes in several different colours, and it's super light and easy to carry/fire, not to mention cheap with 22LR.

In my experience, it's much better and more fun to get a $200 22LR rifle and a $100 steel resetting target system than a $500 rifle on paper. Having a reactive target makes the whole experience more fun.

You want a rifle with a good trigger ,nothing puts new shooters off as a heavy trigger.Funny,my 30 year old Marlins have WAY better triggers than newer Marlins.i agree that for a first rifle,a bolt action is best, but the JW 20 semi sure is a nice little rifle for casual shooting and you can't beat the price at $125...,it's also the best finished Norinco I've had,the others were good shooters but fell short on fit and finish

Maybe bring her to the gun store under the premise of "looking around". Get her to try a few or hold some and then buy the one she liked the next day. My gf favors the Skorpion, and loves the AR. When we go hunting, she brings the Savage .22 and we trade off with the 12-gauge.

And, as others have said, the deal at CanadaAmmo right now on the JW20 (Browning SA22 copy) is pretty sweet at $125!!! Best of all, it's LIGHT and IMHO worth every penny at that price!

Savage axis in muddy girl camo.. Comes in youth stock and multiple calibers.. Got my wife a youth axis in 243 for her birthday, put a vortex scope on it, lightened the trigger and it fits her great, she's 5'3 100lbs

I bought my girlfriend a 10/22 and picked up a spare stock.
She really liked the idea that i cut it to length just for her lop and even did a custom paint job that she designed. She was totally thrilled that I did all this for her. We even installed the optics that she picked out. We then had lots of fun I'm going to the range with their own rifles

. Then she decided she didn't really want to shoot anymore and stop going to the range with me.
What's so cool about the 1022 is with one turn of the screw you can swap back to that other stock I mentioned.
By the way we've been married for five years her stock is still in the closet and I still use the rifle.

I also have another spare I intend to cut down for our son.
