I was thinking about going on a spring bear hunt but I don't really know much about bear hunting. I'm from Calgary If any one has any tips or info for hunting bear in Alberta ie: what area's are good, to bait or not to bait. I was thinking about just trying some spot and stalk and see how it goes but I don't really know alot about bear. I'm sure there are some really good bear hunts out here in Alberta. If any are will to pass a little info on that would be great.... Thanks Jared

Since no one else will help you...

Foothills + logging roads + cutlines + binnoculers + rifle= bear..;)

Go with the spot and stalk. Best advice: watch the wind. As long as you keep the wind in your favour and move slowly (and quietly) getting within gun range (even the range of totally inadequate cartridges like the 30-30, 45-70, or any muzzleloader :)) of a bear is not that difficult. Having said that, more often then not something will go to pot before you get a clear shot on a bear you want.

Cheers,
Ian

p.s. I hope you guys know sarcasm when you see it.
