Last weekend I purchased my 1st Swede - 1909 m96, Canada post dropped it off this morning. Looking forward to firing the lighter 6.5x55 round. Now I need to find a bayonet and a sling and get out to the range for some winter war like shooting fun.Now for a few pics , Oh and thanks Bill for the great service.

I have a 1900 with sling in mint condition.
great rifle. Ammo is not cheap. too lazy to reload; Bought factory ammo (federal) from a local supply; $35.00 a box

Has or does anybody use Privi Partisan 139gr FMJ in their m96 rifles, seems to be the least expensive factory ammo in this cartridge., paper and plinking is my only requirement. Reloading is not an option at this time.

I have used their ammo, it worked fine in all of my Swedish Rifles, semi and bolt. Another brand that works well (and is correct velocity and pressure level) is the Federal Fusion 140gr. The price on the Federal is a bit high compared to the Privi though.

I love my '96 and I'm just starting to hand load for it.

You say you want a bayonet?

Put an ad in the ee for one.

I got one off a fella for 40 bucks in really nice shape with the leather frog and everything delivered.

Your rifle is in really nice shape. Good purchase! Enjoy it!

I have managed to secure a bayonet, frog, sling & some stripper clips from a forum member…

If I fall in love with shooting 6.5 I may have to get into reloading, but for now I just want to make sure I don't purchase hot factory loads.. as I really need to keep my fingers, eyes and other important body parts. :d:)

Most ammo you buy in North America is loaded light.

In Europe the swede is more popular and modern arms are common so they tend to load higher.

Before you buy ammo go online or call the manufacturer to see how it's loaded.
