first time AR15 owner

ok let me reword that.. What will new owners encounter? with it be reliable in a range environment ? or will I spend too much time fighting with reliability issues and get frustrated and keep it in the safe??

No one here who actually owns a Norc has had an issue with them when using suitable ammunition. You may or may not have issues with the magazines, but not the rifle. Make sure the rifle is properly lubricated, that the magazines are of good quality and use appropriate ammunition (do not use bulk 40 gn. hollow points) and you will find that the Chinese M4 is a reliable carbine that will shoot approximately 2 MOA if you do your part. All of that stands for just about every AR rifle made (some are more accurate than others, but 2 inches is well inside the US Military's standards for the M4)

Very range reliable, we're not shooting in the desert all day with sand and dirt flying in the action and only time to clean the gun once every 3 days.. Maybe then reliability may be an issue, not on the range.

I went through a case of 500 rounds of american eagle .223 FMJ's 55gr in about 2 hours, just shooting the hell out of the gun. I was using 10 rounders and 5 round magazines going through that ammo like it was free. Rapid fire, slow fire, you name it, just banging on the gun trying to see it jam.
Nothing.

11.5" armalite from wolverine, bought 3 years ago. Best rifle I have ever owned, other than my SKS, they're both about the same on the reliability scale.

Enjoy it

Agreed.

serously. have fun with the norc and treat it like s**t but with regular cleanings, and you will not have problems. if you had a better quality AR i would say baby it just cause it cost more and looking good is part of the ar experiance but as a norinco, beat the s**t out of it untill it gives you a problem and then buy somthing you really want. the norc is a really good learning AR. I went straight to STAG and I would love to beat it up but cant bring myself to do it. I kinda wished I started with the norc just so I would be more keen on painting and giving the thing "battle scars" lol

Awesome price too, at the time the norc was not available as an AR for me, otherwise I probably would have gone that route and with the difference that I saved bought an aimpoint.

SAVE UP and buy something better than a norc TRUST ME you will regret not doing that later ...Buy only quality guns and keep emm or you will find yourself upgrading all the time. Take a look at a Bushmaster or Smith both of which epps have the fit and finish is far Superior to that of a norinco. And for the 500 to 600 buck difference you might as well get a good one, wait one more week save that paycheck...and... CRY ONLY ONCE

I could go into detail about why (especially in the case of Bushmaster lately) you're better off with the Norc, but the best argument is this; that 500-600 dollars will buy you a case (1,000 rounds) of very nice full military spec SS109 (PMC) to develop decent skill with the carbine using the food it's designed for. Or, you can sit at home and polish your Bushy, or Smith. Neither of which come with a decent (carbine) stock, an FA BCG, or a real flash hider.

well Im back from Ellwood Epps ! and Im sold ! the finish wasn't as bad as I had assumed ! and from what ive read lately there isnt much difference from any other AR except finish ! besides all I care at this point is that it goes " BANG BANG AND PUTS HOLES IN STUFF " also I planned to get the cmmg 22lr conversion for this to further aid on my wallet !

If you plan to own a "tactical .22", than the Norinco M4 w/ CMMG .22lr conversion is your best bet for that. Wouldn't make any sense to go all out on a range plinker, so good conclusion!

+1 for Norc M4. Best bang for the buck that goes BANG.

A few months ago when I saw the M4 at Epps, I was turned off since the finish was terrible. Looked at it again recently and it was much better and I bought one. :)

Nobody is going to know it`s a Norc unless 3ft away. Maybe even less.

And this is based on your personal experience with the firearm in question......

A firearm you have gone out and purchased and used extensively......Got over 1800 rounds through mine (1200 in one day).

And yes I have another AR15 sitting in the safe that I use as well.

Compared to other types of firearms the AR variant is pretty expensive to get into for the first time. Why not try something at the lower end until such time as you feel the need to trade up or unload it because it wasn't your thing. The AR manual of arms is considerably more complicated than your bolt or pump action firearm. It will require a fair amount of training to become proficient in its use compared to other firearms. The only way I know of becoming proficient is practice....that means expending rounds downrange.

1 K for a gun and another 5-600 dollars in ammunition beats a $1600.00 gun that sits in a safe looking good.

Just my .02 cents worth.

Yup! I initially wanted to drop $1.5k on a real AR but settled for the Norc. Major reason is I don`t really want to spend that much $$$ on a restricted that I cannot take out to the bush. I doubt it would buy upgrades for it either, so cheap AR is good enough for me.

So far, reports on it is really good. I only heard of one bad incident and I think it happened to an employee from Epps. I forget what exactly happend, but something got busted while shooting at the range with reloads. It`s all speculation what may had happened due to reloads. Best of all, nobody injured.

Its not as pretty cosmetically as $2000 AR 15,s something that you would not notice unless you look closely at the rifle, but it functions flawlessly and shoots accurately.
