Hey Fellas,

Just got into hunting and I have a few questions regarding validations tags and the lottery system. I'm interested in hunting Deer, Small Game, and Wolf/Coyote once the season permits but I'm confused as the lady at the ministry seems to have already given me all the appropriate licences and validation tags. Does this mean I still need to apply for the controlled deer draw? Or am I allowed to hunt for those specific animals anywhere my heart desires?

Thanks in advance!

What WMU's are you planning to hunt in? Deer hunting in some Southern Ontario WMU's have different regs than others. I realise the regs can be confusing to beginners.

If you have Hunting license ( looks like ) then pick up the hunting regulation book. Read it then re-read it.
Yes you can still apply for controlled hunt but what WMU.

Coyote, you can hunt all year but what WMU.

Where you are plan to hunt, then we can give you more but read the regulation booklet - Biggs

Some hunting tags are a general season in some areas, where draws and lotteries are used to control the harvest in other areas where species are fewer in numbers. Your regulations will determine what licensing you need in any particular management area you desire to hunt. You should have a good sit down with another hunter who is familiar with the regulation book in your area.

OK , then what you needs to know.
If you are in and around GTA.
PM and will explain and you can come over to our place if you like to learn more.
You should have ask more questions to your instructor .
