Hey guys, ive been reloading for about a year now, all on a progrssive press. I just got tooled up to crank out .45 ACP but it didnt go all that well.
Heres what im working with:
Hornady LnL progressive press
Lee carbide pistol dies
once fired .45 acp from a CGN
aim 200gr flat nose
So it was going well and then every once in a while i would have to put a little more pressure than normal to cycle the press and the result is pictured below.
On some of them it seems like the case just shaved off part of the projectile, and on a couple of them the projectile wouldnt seat so it crushed the case!
I was using a case expander die, so im not sure. A couple of times i dont think the brass was sitting completely level.
Basically im not 100% sure how this happened and i would like to prevent it in the future.
Its strange i load .308 and 9mm with zero problems, but .223 and .45 seem to give me the most troubles.
Also i couldnt find in my manuals or online the best COAL for these projectiles, anybody know?
