First Time Mosin Owner

Went out winter shooting today(at least -25) with the mosin carbine and it once again gave me a hell of a lot of respect for the poor bastards that had to go shooting in these conditions 60 years ago...every day...againt a nonstop onslaught...

Find it really hard to believe anything kicks harder than an M44, especially when you're not cuddling with it just right...
 
I have two Mosins, a Romanian M-44 and a Russian 91/30 and I also own a Maverick 88, 12GA, short barrel. I think the shotgun kicks a lot more, being somewhat lighter than the bulky Mosin; it feels hard to control. But...they're all mucho fun :D

Enfeild stocks come in different lengths, do mosin stocks?? Mine was to short for me, and I built a leather lace on extension that seemed to help.

I agree that recoil is more with a slug gun,but you also get a nice recoil pad with them;)
 
M44 kicks, but not that bad. C'mon guys. I have fired mine standing, sitting, kneeling and prone.

Now, firing 3 inch magnums simultaneously from both barrells of a little coach gun, that freakin hurts.

That may hurt for you (and the others) but it was absolutely hilarious for the two of us that didn't try it :p .

Rather than add one permanently, just get a slip on one. That should take most of the sting out, without bubbatizing the rifle.;)
 
I added the Butler Creek medium slip-on pad, works quite well but I think it's a touch too big. The small size would probably be a better, tighter fit but I can't say for sure.
 
don't forget those little M44's are LOUD too, great fun firing them at night, poor ruskies a flash like that would not only give away your position but would provide enough light to give away all teh positions around you.
