hey everyone,

after finally getting my pal, then shopping for and buying a shotgun, i'm dying to get out and do some shooting. i was thinking of going to silverdale as its pretty close to me here in burlington, and ive heard good things about it but ive never been out to a range begore. im not sure what to bring when i head there other than my shotgun and some shells. i also dont know what to do once i get out there, are people at places like this generally pretty helpful with noobs? anyone have some input that can help make this first trip go as smooth as possible??

Assuming you find a range willing to let you shoot without a membership, read the rules that are posted around the range, these are important to know. Bring targets, a staple gun to staple up these targets(unless you intend to shoot at nothing), hearing protection is a MUST regardless of your past hunting experience, the bang is loud as hell in any covered area, and eye protection might be mandatory at the range.

Feel free to ask people to help you if they don't look like they are busy. Around here(Manitoba) there are no ranges you can just go to and shoot at without first applying for a membership or going as a guest with a member.

yeah, i forgot to mention i have ear and eye protection. the club is open to non-members on saturdays and sundays so im good there. good call on the targets and stapler. i wasnt sure if targets would be available there or not.
