I shot a scoped rifle for the first time today. :) I had the Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42MD mounted and bore sighted yesterday but Wednesday nights is IPSC so the rifle had to wait. Tonight I got out and did the fine sighting and a little target practice. Luckily the first shot was only off by about 4" so it wasn't too hard. I shot 150 rounds of Winchester Super-X High Velocity .22LR in total. I started sighting at 10 yards and then moved to 25 yards for the rest.

The last forty shots were into this paper (5 in each target). The top two were at 6X magnification, the middle three were at 16X and the bottom three were at 10X. The bottom left target was the best one. The hole at it's widest measures 3/8".

I know it's only 25 yards, but I'm really happy. This gun shoots great.

I almost forgot to thank my girlfriend for making four kickass shooting bags out of the legs of old jeans and kitty litter. :)

Nice shooting :)

Even at 25 yards those are great groups and with some better ammo you will gett some real good groups (such as Lapua superclub - I find that works very well in my CZ :))

I was going to say, Lapua Super club should tighten those groups up significantly. I also find all of my rifles like the American Eagle 40 grain solids a lot more than the Winchester for varmint/plinking ammo.

The gun is capable of groups like that at 50 yards. Or at least in my case 4 shots in one hole and one flier. If you use Massad Ayoob's method of 5 shots and throw away 2 fliers, rough estimate of inherent accuracy of a firearm.

Good Lord I hate it when somone says inherent accuracy. It makes me think of Kernal Craig and makes me want to throw up a little. :puke:

Nice shooting there bud. Those little rifles are so accurate it's boring. (Enter shamless attempt to garner attention to my EE ad) I've got one up for trade in the EE. (Nervous whistling)

:p

By the way, your bags look way nicer than mine. I taped my ends shut with painters tape! I can't sew, the Wife was at work and I couldn't find anything else! :D

Nice Sandbag! I appreciate the artistic effort. Duct tape (camo of course) would have been a nice touch.

I have a 452 American in 22 LR that I bought off the EE here a couple of years ago. I installed a Brooks trigger kit, free floated the barrel, and bedded the action. It will shoot around ½" at 50 meters on a regular basis with Lapua Super Club or RWS Rifle Match, with a "zinger" groups going ¼" once in a while. I have tried Eley Black match, and Lapua Midas M/L, but the results were not measurably better than the two mentioned. Nevertheless, I consider this a very fine rimfire, considering my investment in it. Wood is nice, but rather plain. Regards, Eagleye.
