I've had this rifle finished for some months now and with a new baby just haven't had time to sit down and make some loads and get out shooting.

Rifle is a Savage 10FP in a HS stock. Barrel is a Shilen .260 rem 1/8 twist, bolt timing and stock bedded (barrel, bedding and bolt timing by Jerry), base is Ferrel with Burris Z rings and a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50.

Custom bolt handle, which is fantastic and huge by juanvaldez (North Shore) and I also have a heavy stainless recoil lug from him I have yet to install.

All rounds made with Amax 140gr using H4831SC all shot at 100yds

42.9gr at 2.8 OAL, 6rnds getting it sighted in

Sweet looking rig and very nice shooting! I have an almost identical twin to yours, same action, barrel, chambering, just a different stock and mine wears a Vortex Razor 5-20X50. Congratulations, looks like you have a shooter there!!!!

Ya so far she shoots pretty good. Next week I am going to head out to the farm to see how she goes at 300yds. Unfortunately that is about as far as I can shoot around these parts. Will have to wait till I go up north to find some longer distances.

FF, very nice shooting. Try working around that 46gr load in 1 or 2 tenths. Might pull things in even tighter. Nice to see you getting that type of accuracy with the Amax. I never got them to shoot all that well in my rifles.

Berger 140gr VLD's was what my Shilens thrived on. Lapua 139gr Scenars shot great too.

Another pretty darn accurate Savage.

If you would like to have it on my website, please send me some info and pics. Look forward to hearing how you make out at 300+.

Forgot to mention that Fireformed brass will need a slightly different load then new ones. So you will have to tweak your load a small amount

Enjoy...

Jerry

The next batch I made up this afternoon run from 46gr to 47gr. All the brass I started with was fire formed so should be good to go I think. Once I'm done with these AMax I will be ordering some VDL's from you.

I have had very good results with the 140 AMAX as well, my average is in the 0.4s and my best is 0.256" at 100 yards. Where in Ontario do you live? I have an area in mind for some longer range shooting if you are interested in a short road trip. :D
