First time shooting new AR, BCG won't extract or load properly.

Wasn't there another thread where the NEA barrel feed ramps were totally off centre and the bolt would't fit in at all? Can you take a picture under the upper with the bolt just backed up behind the feed ramps? Do they look like they should line up correctly?

Good idea! I'll take a pic when I get home tonight.

Yeah. I was doing all my tests without a magazine or ammo in and still some resistance. I used the vice block that clamps over the outside of the receiver.

Did you figure it out yet?

Other question, did you use the insert in the upper in addition to the vise block? Did the barrel require a lot of torque to index the barrel nut?

From your pics, I'm still thinking squashed receiver. If the bolt carrier doesn't travel through the upper receiver channel freely (gravity drop test), and the binding is where your pictures indicate, usually the receiver is crushed and the rifle will show the problems you are experiencing. It doesn't take much.

To the people suggesting barrel extensions, etc, have a look at where the bolt is stopping.
