Finally got to break out my Mosin M-38 carbine at my cottage last weekend and boy was it a hoot to shoot. This is my heaviest hitting gun to date and I had a blast using it. Makes quite the fireball, which is always a nice touch. Not nearly as bad on the shoulder as I though it would be either. Makes me wish I could go shooting more often. Here is a quick video I took while shooting. Even got my mother to try shooting it. Probably should have started her on something with less gusto than this x54r though :p

Also for all you safety rangers in the video, I am shooting into a hill, it just doesn't show up very well on the video.

It looks like you had a lot of fun with this thing! Also I noticed that your bolt action is very smooth? Mine is rougher than that! What ammo are you using to get such a nice fire ball? Ana what's up with the net...? Trying to cover your identity? :)))

haha it was a great deal of fun. I was just using Chinese Corrosive Surplus. My bolt does seem to be a lot smoother than a lot of people's mosins it would seem. I did do some de-burring with a file from the bolt face however, because it had some problems on closing the bolt originally, so maybe that made the difference.

Lol ty Jongun, I want to try a mark 5 Jungle Lee en carbine next, and see which I can work faster :p, and yah Jimdo, black flies EVERY WHERE hence the bug net. You would think a muzzle blast from that would clear at least a few out... NOPE

Ouch, that sucks Jimdo. But With how little I get to shoot being in university, I'll take what I can get xD I did find out that a liberal coat of Deet seemed to not do much to dissuade the black flies so I guess I'll be stuck with the mesh again next time as well, which wouldn't be so bad if the folds didn't mess up the sight picture half the time.
