So this is my first time applying to the moose draw. Im hoping to get my application done by the end of the day. I'm probably going to apply by phone or internet.

Anyway, I'm applying as an individual and I hear that the odds are slim that individuals get a tag, especially in the area I'm applying, WMU 48. So does it cost the 55 bucks or whatever just to apply? Or is the application free and you only pay if you get drawn? And if you get drawn, is there another charge to get your tag?

Someone give me the downlow on the whole process!

Also too, how many people do you need to apply as a group?

Thanks

Go to MNR website.....read the PDF on moose hunting.

To answer your questions:
I believe you have to buy a lic to apply for a tag, there is no other fee to pay
NO, you will not get a tag. Period. You will be a POOL B applicant.
Next year you will be POOL A applicant and still probably will not get a tag

There is NOT a guaranteed group size to get a tag in WMU 48.
There are only 31 Bull, 10 Cow, 34 Calf tags for WMU 48 - slim chances...

Go somewhere else (like NW Ont) and you will probably get a tag. Some places the guaranteed group size is 2...

It is all on the Ontario MNR website

All of the above, but, your license will be good for a calf in those WMUs where there is no draw requirement for calf. If you don't apply you will always be a pool B with no chance of a tag (except for the far north), ya gotta pay to play.
